About the Artist

Primitive folk artist David Harden was raised in Waverly, Ohio. Born in 1967, David started his career at the early age of 10 years old, selling his folk art at any given opportunity. "I actually started selling my work at my parent's garage sales. I would set up a small table and people would line up. I was usually sold out in a matter of minutes. It amazed me then and continues to amaze me to this day!" David now resides in Chillicothe, Ohio where he finds inspiration in the rolling hills and rural scenery.

David carried his love for art through all of his schooling, taking every opportunity to enroll in any class related to art. He went to college soon after graduation to pursue a degree in advertising and marketing. The knowledge he gained from that proved to be useful in later years to help him market and sell his folk art.

In a small basement apartment, David would set up and sell his work. Working various jobs in fast food and as a gas station attendant, David would work in his off time to create unique folk art pieces and open his home for a one day show. "Oh my gosh......I loved those days! There would literally be lines down the sidewalk of people waiting to get in! I owe a lot to the people who stood in line. I wouldn't be where I am today if not for them."

In 1991 David opened a retail store in hopes that the same wonderful people who sought his work would follow. They have and today the store has expanded to twice its original size. Noted as America's number one folk artist, David has grown into a larger company known nationally as FOLK ART BY DAVID.

So, whether you find him in a tuxedo during cocktail hour or in his usual paint spattered clothing, you will find David is the same down to earth guy who knows that God has blessed him. "I owe my career to God, a lot of hard work and the wonderful people who support my folk art. Without these things, I wouldn't be doing what I do and loving it! Thank you everyone".
